Some products I noted.
Cloudflare is launching new tools that allow websites to monitor and block AI data-scraping bots, providing users with real-time insights and control over which bots can access their content. The Bot Management suite includes features for labeling and selectively blocking AI agents, addressing the limitations of the traditional robots.txt file. Additionally, Cloudflare plans to introduce a marketplace for negotiating scraping terms with AI companies, aiming to ensure content creators receive value for their work.
HP announced new AI PCs for home and work, including the EliteBook X G1a, touted as the world’s most powerful AI business notebook, and the EliteBook Ultra with an 8-core Snapdragon X processor. The EliteBook X will ship in December, with pricing to be determined, while the OmniBook Ultra Flip is now available at $1450.
HP is introducing AI to its printers with the new HP Print AI experience, currently in beta. This feature includes Perfect Output, which cleans up printouts by removing unwanted content, optimizing spreadsheets, and allowing users to create greeting cards from photos using conversational prompts. Additional Print AI features are expected to be launched throughout 2025, though details on compatible printers and software requirements are still unclear.
And a product update—Only 5,000 of the 100,000 Rabbit R1 AI gadgets sold are used daily, highlighting a significant drop in user engagement since its launch. The device, which was rushed to market, has been criticized for failing to meet expectations, leading to a lack of interest compared to smartphones’ capabilities.
Why do we care?
Cloudflare’s tools offer an opening for discussion about what an organization’s policy is. The potential marketplace for negotiating scraping terms is particularly noteworthy—it shifts the dynamic, allowing content creators to regain control and possibly monetize their data.
Implementing these controls effectively will require businesses to understand the nuances of bot traffic and make strategic decisions about what data can be shared or blocked. There is an opportunity here for IT service providers to offer consulting and implementation services that help companies navigate these new controls and integrate them with existing content management and cybersecurity protocols.
