Microsoft announced updates to its Microsoft 365 Copilot, including the ability to create autonomous AI agents for workflows, a new collaboration interface called Copilot Pages, and enhanced app-specific features. Key updates include Copilot in Excel for natural language queries, a narrative builder for PowerPoint, meeting chat summaries in Teams, and new capabilities in OneDrive and Outlook.
The updates also introduce BizChat for better data integration and custom Copilot agents for streamlined workflows.
Microsoft confirmed Copilot now utilizes the advanced GPT-4o model for improved performance.
Microsoft has launched Office LTSC 2024 for Windows and macOS, aimed at commercial and government customers needing long-term support without internet connectivity. This version features improved performance, security, and accessibility, along with new Excel functionalities. It includes core apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint but excludes Microsoft Publisher, which will be retired after October 2026. Office LTSC 2024 will receive security updates for five years and is available for existing volume-licensed customers, with general availability starting October 1, 2024.
Why do we care?
The ability to create autonomous AI agents for workflows in Microsoft 365 Copilot is a significant shift. This enables businesses to automate complex, repetitive tasks across different departments, such as HR or finance, potentially reducing manual workloads and improving efficiency.
I’m also increasingly convinced that an application that resonates with LLMs is data analysis. MSPs should help organizations better utilize these tools, offering training or customization to get the most out of these enhanced features, particularly for non-technical users.
This application is the use case to consider most.
