Microsoft has officially confirmed that it is deprecating the Windows Control Panel in favor of the Settings app, which offers a more modern user experience. Although the Control Panel will remain for compatibility reasons, users are encouraged to transition to the Settings app. This move has been anticipated since early 2011, with various hints and rumors surfacing.
