And while we’re paying attention to fed moves, Axios looked at the push for zero trust within the federal government and private sector. There’s a September 2024 deadline to implement zero trust within federal agencies, and the expectation is that this year modernize federal IT.
The White House ordered all civilian government agencies last year to establish and implement a zero-trust plan by the end of September 2024 under the administration’s zero-trust strategy. The plans must include adopting a “phishing-resistant” form of MFA, maintaining digital assets inventories, and segmenting individual networks from other agencies.
And this year’s appropriations and budgeting cycle is the last opportunity to ensure federal agencies have the funds they need to meet the 2024 deadline.

It didn’t take long for one of my 2023 predictions to happen. Either that was too obvious, or the criminals listened to the pod. Now there are law enforcement warnings.
The security push continues, and with a deadline looming, there should be implementations to track this year. Those in government contracting are likely knee-deep in chasing that work, and the rest of us are watching to see what level of compliance is achieved.
