Here’s one I’m pondering. A new report from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology says that most people are likely to access their medical records via computer rather than smartphone app. Almost 40 percent of US adults said that they accessed their health records through a patient portal in 2020, up 25 percent from 2014.
Of the people who did use a portal during the study period, around 40 percent said that they only or sometimes used a smartphone app to access it.
I do not profess to have a quip on this one. This data is about understanding customer behavior. Medical record systems kinda suck – that’s an opportunity, BTW – and so I’m not surprised they require a form factor that lends itself to managing complexity.
Healthcare is going to be disrupted… because with it being such a large portion of the economy, and the technology being so disconnected from other portions.. someone is going to exploit that.
